Product Review: Udi's Double Chocolate Chip Muffins

By

If you’ve been craving a chocolate muffin with your morning coffee, look no further than Udi’s Double Chocolate Muffins.  There are so many companies out there that will cut corners and skimp on quality, but Udi’s consistently gets it right.

These muffins are an absolute delight.  The scent is reminiscent of a light and lovely chocolate mousse.  I prefer to eat warm muffins, so I heated them in the microwave for 10 seconds.  The chocolate chips came out lightly melted and it was like having them straight out of the oven.

I frequently make a chocolate orange cake at home, and when I bit into these I immediately picked up on the hint of lemon.  It’s very subtle, but it provides a brightness and depth to the chocolate flavor that is incredible.  The texture is soft, light and airy, and the height is equal to that of a normal gluten product.  So many gluten free muffins are stout and dense, and Udi’s is able to pull off one of gluten free eating’s most confounding problems – the sufficient rise of baked goods.

These muffins are also suitably decadent to serve as cupcakes – but I dare not add a frosting!  My non gluten-free son thought they were cupcakes and declared them “delicious”!

These are also free of soy, dairy and nuts.  The packaging does not indicate how to store these, so I kept them in the fridge until I was ready to eat them.  Not that they lasted very long…  ;o)

They're great muffins, I had some a while back when a friend brought them over to me here in Oz. Especially the double chocolate ones! Far better than anything lingering the shelves here!

I absolutely love them. And the Lemon Streusel ones. Heaven!
